The Divan – The Arab Cultural House and The Poetry Project Berlin e.V. warmly invite you to a literary poetry evening on November 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Divan.

The German and Arabic texts presented by poets from diverse backgrounds address themes such as arrival, belonging, experiences of discrimination, the seemingly foreign, stereotypes, language, and integration. The audience will hear texts by Ali Alzaeem, Rojin Namer, Jaklin Schilbaya, and Omar Darawsha. With their poetic voices, they share experiences and perspectives on language, identity, and living together in society.

The evening will be hosted by Susanne Koelbl, initiator and artistic director of The Poetry Project Berlin e.V., who will welcome the audience with a thematic introduction and moderate both the reading and the subsequent discussion.

A book table from The Poetry Project Berlin e.V. will accompany the event and invites you to carry the poetry beyond the moment.

We look forward to an inspiring evening dedicated to literature, exchange, and encounter, and we look forward to your visit!
