"When a child loses its toy, it cries. Similar feelings can arise when suddenly one cannot recall words in their mother tongue." As a partner, The Poetry Project had the privilege of supporting the Arabic writing workshop "Nach der Flucht" (After the Flight) at Literaturhaus Frankfurt. On March 12th, the concluding reading took place, during which the poets presented their lyrical texts on the theme of identity. Translator Imad Karim introduced the readers, while Stéphane Bittoun recited the German translations. Dilek Üsük moderated the event and engaged in conversation with the young writers about their relationship with the city of Frankfurt and the newly learned language. Very personal stories were shared, and there were moments of laughter - for instance when the question about feelings toward the German language politely went unanswered.
