Ghani Ataei (*2000) grew up in the ancient Afghan trading city of Herat, near the border with Iran. At the age of 15, he set off on his own journey to Germany.

While in Germany, Ghani worked in a bakery on weekends during his school years. After internships at an anthroposophical kindergarten and a senior citizen home, he obtained his university entrance qualification from the Ruth-Cohn-School for Social Work in 2020 and is already looking for a study place. Ghani is interested in German philosophy and Max Weber. In 2018, he was awarded the Else Lasker-Schüler Poetry Prize.
