Mohamad Mashghdost (*1997), the son of a taxi driver from Bandar-e Ansali, Iran, set out for Europe in the autumn. At home, he feared being drafted into the war in Syria. After his arrival in Berlin, Mohamad Mashghdost wrote several outstanding poems about Iranian sadness and his longing for life. In 2018, he was awarded the Else Lasker-Schüler Poetry Prize. Mohamad currently lives in Husum.
