On July 12th, 2024, the fourth edition of the Impala Shorts series took place at the Weisse Rose in Schöneberg. This series explores the connection between dance and other art forms, culminating in final performances.

After previous editions that included visual arts and photography, this time the focus was on poetry. Together with the dancers from Impala, our poets brought an impressive performance to the stage. On a very beautiful and touching evening, spoken poetry and dance merged into a very special presentation. A highlight of the evening was Anastasiia, who had a dual role. She not only recited her own texts but also took part in the dance performance. Her versatility and dedication made for an especially impressive presentation. Fevzi presented a new text that specifically referenced Berlin. This was interpreted through dance parallel to his recital, offering the audience a unique experience. Additionally, Nadiia, Murtaza, and Abdul presented very personal texts. All texts were recited in the original languages—Ukrainian, Persian, and Kurdish—and then in German. The translations were wonderfully read by Selin from Impala and significantly contributed to the understanding and atmosphere of the evening. Following the performance, there was a Q&A session with all participants. Despite a longer break, many visitors returned to the hall. People were particularly interested in how the collaboration worked and how the words in a poem can be translated into movements.

We sincerely thank all those involved for this great experience and special evening. We look forward to future joint projects!
